PMLD Learning Support Assistant - Special Needs School
Location: Greenwich, South East London
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £95 - £120 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time, Long-Term (Temp to Perm)
About the Role:
An outstanding special needs school in Greenwich is looking to appoint a caring and resilient Learning Support Assistant to work with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD). This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about making a genuine impact in the lives of young people with complex physical, medical, and learning needs.
The successful candidate will support pupils aged 11-19, working closely with class teachers, therapists, and medical staff to ensure each student receives the individual care, attention, and learning support they need.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with PMLD
Assist with personal care, feeding, hoisting, and mobility as required (full training can be provided)
Support with sensory-based learning activities and communication aids
Foster a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment tailored to students' developmental levels
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents to support EHCP goals
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or young adults with PMLD, complex needs, or severe learning difficulties
A calm, patient, and compassionate approach to supporting learners with high support needs
Comfortable assisting with personal care and using moving & handling equipment
Team Teach, PECS, Makaton, or manual handling training is highly desirable
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to obtain one)
