SEN Teaching Assistant - Secondary SEN School
Location: Southwark, South East London
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £90 - £110 per day
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only, Temp to Perm


About the Role:

A supportive and well-resourced secondary SEN school in Southwark is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The school caters for students aged 11-18 with a range of additional needs including Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Speech and Language Difficulties, and SEMH.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are passionate about special educational needs and are looking to gain or build on their experience in a specialist school setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with a variety of special educational needs in both 1:1 and small group settings

  • Assist the class teacher in delivering adapted and differentiated lessons

  • Help to manage behaviour and promote positive emotional wellbeing

  • Encourage student independence and confidence through consistent routines

  • Contribute to the development of EHCP targets and monitor progress


Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people with SEN in a school or care setting

  • Calm, patient, and flexible approach to working with pupils with additional needs

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Comfortable supporting students with personal care (where required)

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
