Job description
Main Purpose of Job: Must have Direct school experience
You will be an experienced leader who is highly competent in leading on the business support of school life. Working in a special school you will be highly adaptable to the day to day priorities as they arise.
Responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the school business support team through direct and indirect reports including: Site management, financial strategy and oversight, assets and resources to ensure the school's financial health into the future; operational strategy and management of all non-teaching aspects of school including projects and change programmes.
Ensure full compliance in relation to Health and Safety, HR processes, ICT including GDPR, Office administration, Financial controls. Ensuring equality of workload across all personnel within the team.
Undertaking supervisory or leadership duties as required or in the absence of colleagues
Responsible for:
Leading the school business support staff, and in particular leading a team of key direct reports:
Finance Manager, Facilities Manager, ICT Manager, HR Manager and Administration Officer.
Actively managing all school contracts including outsourced functions i.e. catering, IT support and licences, HR Consultancy, Health & Safety and Data Protection.
The post holder will provide a strong lead to ensure that support functions (including those which are outsourced) are providing high standards of customer service and excellent support to the school's overall vision and purpose.

Line Management and Appraisal
- Providing overall leadership to Business Support Staff within the school
- Ensuring an appraisal policy and process is in place for support staff and to oversee this
- Conducting moderation of objectives and performance to ensure the policy is fairly applied across staff
- Conducting appraisals of those support staff directly line-managed
