Job Title: School Caretaker - General Grounds and Maintenance
Location: East London Area
Are you a dedicated and skilled individual looking for a rewarding role in maintaining the grounds and facilities of a school? We are currently seeking reliable and experienced School Caretakers to join our schools in the east london area. This is a full-time position, offering 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities:
- Perform general grounds maintenance tasks including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding, and planting.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the school premises, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for students, staff, and visitors.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaky faucets, changing light bulbs, and painting.
- Carry out inspections and regular checks on equipment and facilities, reporting any defects or issues to the appropriate authorities.
- Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment and furniture for school events, assemblies, and meetings.
- Support the school community by being available for any ad-hoc handyman tasks that may arise.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in general grounds maintenance, preferably in a school or similar setting.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations related to grounds maintenance and general maintenance work.
- Ability to operate a range of gardening tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Basic repair and maintenance skills, including carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and external contractors.
- A proactive and problem-solving attitude, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
