Job Title: SEN Teacher - KS4 SLD/MLD Class with Behavioural Needs
Location: Barking, East London
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
Start Date: Immediate start available

Are you a passionate SEN Teacher looking for an opportunity to make a real difference? We are recruiting on behalf of an outstanding special needs school in London, seeking an experienced SEN Teacher to support a KS4 class of students with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and behavioural needs.

About the School

The school is a specialist academy serving children aged 4 to 16 with severe, profound, and complex learning disabilities. As part of a trust, this designated free school is a nurturing, well-resourced environment focused on providing exceptional, tailored education to each student. With a Published Admissions Number (PAN) of 180, the school ensures that every placement is carefully considered to meet the specific needs of each student.

The school serves students who:

  • Hold an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) or are undergoing statutory assessment.
  • Are identified by educational professionals as benefitting from the school's specialist resources.
  • Require specialised support in a manner that complements the learning environment of other pupils.

About the Role

This role is ideal for an experienced SEN Teacher who excels in working with students facing SLD, MLD, and behavioural challenges. As the KS4 SEN Teacher, you will join a committed team, providing essential support and education to help students achieve their personal and educational goals in a positive and inclusive setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver creative, adaptable lesson plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Implement effective behaviour management strategies to foster a productive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and school staff to ensure a comprehensive support system for each student.
  • Engage with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure open communication and consistent support for every child.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with SEN experience, ideally working with SLD/MLD students.
  • Proficiency in behaviour management, particularly with students requiring tailored approaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, patience, and dedication to SEN teaching.
  • Previous experience within a special school setting is a plus, though not required.

Why Choose the School?

By joining this school through our agency, you will have the chance to work in a forward-thinking educational setting where professional growth and development are highly encouraged. The school provides an inclusive, well-supported environment where every staff member contributes to creating transformative learning experiences for students.
