SEN Teaching Assistant

Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Newham
Salary:Competitive, based on experience
Contract Type: Full-Time

Role Overview:

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide individualised support to students with special educational needs. Your primary focus will be on facilitating their learning and development by offering tailored assistance both in the classroom and during other school activities. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement SEN strategies and ensure that each student receives the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist teachers in developing and delivering tailored SEN programs and interventions.
- Adapt learning materials and activities to meet the specific needs of SEN students.
- Monitor and assess the progress of SEN students, providing feedback and support to help them achieve their learning goals.
- Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other support staff to implement effective SEN strategies.
- Support SEN students with their emotional and behavioural needs, creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of SEN students' progress and contribute to reviews and planning meetings.
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to support the SEN students' development and address any concerns.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in SEN support.

Requirements:
- Experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role supporting students with special educational needs.
- A strong understanding of SEN and the ability to implement effective strategies to support diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to the evolving needs of SEN students.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students with SEN.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support are desirable.
