Key Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Service Manager, the post holder will lead and manage a team that will provide social care services in Assess and Response, Social Care Long Term or Corporate Parenting (Transition to Independence, Looked After Children or Fostering and Adoption).
This could include one or more of the following specialist areas/services:
- Ensuring vulnerable (including looked after) children and young people are identified, protected and supported to achieve positive outcomes through the provision of well planned, integrated and coordinated services;
- The recruitment, support and training of foster carers and adopters, family finding and matching of children who need to be cared for outside of their family, court reporting in relation to step parent adoptions and special guardianship applications, joint assessments of private fostering arrangements.
- The post holder will lead, manage and oversee the work of the team to ensure that vulnerable children are protected from significant harm, to work with children where there is risk of family breakdown, as well as working with children in care.
- The post holder will also provide continuity of cover for other Team Leaders in their absence, and provide support and guidance to Senior Social Workers who may be deputising for Team Leaders.
- Working in a multi-agency context, the post holder will promote effective partnerships with those providing preventative and/or specialist services in the public, private, community and voluntary sectors, as well as with children young people and their families, foster carers and adopters to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- This role is critical in terms of protecting children and young people on behalf of the Council or in providing good quality, safe placements for children and young people and promoting placement stability. The role requires the on-going development of social work practice and a significant degree of forward planning, as well as managing immediate day to day issues and prioritisation of those issues that require an immediate response.
- This role may include managing more than one area of specialist professional responsibility/aligned service area, as well as being the lead professional expert in a particular area of specialism.
- The role may include oversight of contracts with other organisations, and contribution to the overall commissioning planning process.
- The role will contribute to the strategic planning process by contributing professional expertise and experience. This may include providing persuasive arguments, written reports and verbal presentations.
What you need:
- QSW Status - including qualification, Social Work England registration and completed ASYE
- A minimum of 2 years' experience
- Right to work in the UK
