Job description
ADHD Teaching Assistant | Secondary School | September 2024 | South East London
A Primary School in East London are searching for an ADHD Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a child in Year 8 with ADHD(On the mild side of the spectrum). He is a bright, capable individual but requires additional support and a slightly altered curriculum to keep him on track.
Key aspect of this role is cohering to the behaviour de-escalation methods and promoting positive reinforcement strategies. As part of your role, you will work closely with an Educational Psychologist, SENCO, Class Teacher, and other external agencies to best support this young pupil.

The ideal candidate:
- Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
- Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
- Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
Requirement:
- Must have some recent SEN Experience
- Candidates must have a valid DBS certificate on the update service (Not mandatory as we can provide one)
- Some knowledge of strategies in working with young people with behavioural problems
- Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
