Cover Supervisor | Immediate Paid Trials | South East London

Role: Cover Supervisor

Location: SE1, South East London

Contract: Full time (Monday - Friday)

Start: ASAP

Rate: £130 per day

As a Cover Supervisor you will work in secondary schools to provide support subject teachers by covering classes and ensuring students are working on tasks. This is a key role within secondary schools and almost every secondary school now engages cover supervisors to cover absences and staff when they are required for other duties. This is great opportunity to work on flexible basis and gain experience within schools. The Cover Supervisor is in sole charge of the classroom control and ultimately the safety of pupils within the class.

The ideal Cover Supervisor:

  • Experience working with students with behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational or special education setting.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques, positive reinforcement strategies, and de-escalation methods.
  • Ability to establish rapport and build positive relationships with students, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.

Cover Supervisor Information:

  • Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils while they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment
  • Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures
  • Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
  • Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising
