Location: Islington, North London
Contract: 3-4 days per week, initially 6-8 weeks (likely to extend)
Start Date: ASAP

Are you a dynamic Performing Arts Tutor with a specialism in vocals and experience in drama? Do you thrive in a creative, student-focused environment where education is about self-expression, resilience, and growth? If so, this could be the role for you.
A specialist SEMH Performing Arts School in Islington is looking for an experienced and passionate tutor to guide students through the final stages of their Level 2 and Level 3 vocational qualifications. You'll work collaboratively with senior performing arts staff, helping students refine their work, develop performance skills, and prepare for assessments and moderation.
Why This Role is Unique
- Work in a specialist performing arts setting where students with SEN, SEMH, and social anxiety rediscover their confidence through music, drama, and production.
- Support students in their final stages of vocational qualifications, playing a key role in their success.
- Collaborate with senior performing arts staff, ensuring students produce high-quality work for their awards and diplomas.
- Engage with all aspects of performance and production, from voice training to stagecraft, helping students showcase their talents.
- Develop your own skills in assessment and moderation - training will be provided.
The Role
- Deliver vocals-focused performing arts sessions, incorporating drama to enhance student performance and confidence.
- Support students in developing and finalising their vocational project work.
- Assist in assessment preparation and evidence collation for moderation.
- Adapt to the individual needs of students with SEN and SEMH, using creative approaches to engagement.
- Encourage students to embrace all aspects of performing arts, helping them build well-rounded skills.
Who We're Looking For
- A performing arts specialist with a strong background in vocals and drama.
- Experience in delivering sessions as part of vocational qualifications (training provided for assessment procedures).
- A passion for working with young people with SEN and SEMH, supporting them to achieve their potential.
- A flexible, adaptive approach to teaching, engaging with all areas of performance and production.
- A deep understanding of creative education as a tool for confidence, self-expression, and growth.
This is more than just a teaching role-it's an opportunity to empower, inspire, and transform young performers who have often struggled in traditional education.
If you're ready to make a genuine impact through the arts, we'd love to hear from you.
