Southwark Council is seeking a dynamic and experienced Digital Communications Contractor to lead a two-month project aimed at improving our digital and social media output.

This role will involve creating compelling content (end-to-end production and delivery) and developing and implementing strategies to boost engagement, increase reach, and effectively communicate the Council's initiatives and services. Key Responsibilities

* Content creation: Produce high-quality, engaging content for various digital platforms, including social media, website, and email newsletters. This includes filming and photography out and about the borough of Southwark, acting as a "social media journalist".

* Channel selection: Making sure the right content is on the right channel at the right time.

* Social media management: Support the digital media officer to oversee daily social media activities, including posting, monitoring, and responding to comments and messages.

* Content curation: Create and curate a library of content for future utilisation.

* Analytics and reporting: Working with the digital media officer to track and analyse performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of digital campaigns and adjust strategies as needed.

* Utilising stakeholder channels: Exploring how the Council can utilise digital and social channels beyond its own, such as community Facebook groups and partner's channels.

* Training and handover: Provide training to staff on best practices in digital communications and ensure a smooth handover of ongoing projects and strategies at the end of the contract. Skills Required

* Proven experience in digital communications, social media management and content creation.

* Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.

* Excellent editing and content creation skills.

* Ability to analyse data and generate actionable insights.

* Confident with people to gain their trust and the ability to work independently.

* Familiarity with local government operations and public sector communication is a plus.
